The Irish Criminal Bar Association (ICBA) in-person conference took place on July 1st at the Radisson Blu in Athlone. This was ICBA’s first conference since the onset of the Covid-19 Pandemic and the event was well attended by colleagues from all across the county.
The Irish Criminal Bar Association (ICBA) in-person conference took place on July 1st at the Radisson Blu in Athlone. This was ICBA’s first conference since the onset of the Covid-19 Pandemic and the event was well attended by colleagues from all across the county.
The conference speakers were Garnet Orange SC, Maurice Coffey SC, Fergal Kavanagh SC, Kate Egan BL, Caroline Lathan BL and Simon Donagh BL. Delegates were addressed on a wide range of recent developments in criminal law including the increasing use of mobile phone evidence, and emerging jurisprudence on ineffective assistance of counsel.
The event was chaired by his Honour Judge Dara Hayes of the Circuit Court. The conference was followed by a drinks reception and gala dinner at the hotel. ICBA also held its AGM that evening where Simon Donagh BL was elected as the new Chairperson of ICBA.
